Reactions to messages on WhatsApp, how does it work?
In a blog post, WABetaInfo revealed details about WhatsApp’s new message reaction feature. As shown in the image above, users will soon have the option to react to a message with emojis, as they can already do on Facebook Messenger.
Among the details provided by the messaging service, this feature will make it possible to:
- choose from all the emojis and not just from a limited selection,
- have an almost unlimited number of reactions with messages that can count more than 999 interactions,
- see who are the participants who reacted to the messages,
- react in group discussions and individual conversations.
According to the latest information unveiled, this WhatsApp feature is still under development and should be rolled out in a future update, on iOS and Android.

This feature expected by WhatsApp users is in addition to that of multi-device mode, launched in beta in July 2021. To stay informed or test new features, the messaging service has also opened a public beta program for for PC and macOS users.
